Mr. Nabeel Khalid Kanoo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, announced a new Board of Trustees for the upcoming Award’s edition.
The newly formed Board includes distinguished figures known for their contributions across scientific, cultural, and media fields throughout the Gulf region.
Mr. Kanoo expressed his appreciation to all those who have supported the Award since its establishment in 1998, affirming the Kanoo family’s dedication to continuing efforts to enhance the Award’s role as a distinguished platform for Arab researchers and creatives. He added that the new Board brings together experienced professionals and young talents, contributing to the development of the Award and strengthening its impact on society.
The new members of the Board of Trustees include Mr. Fahad Fawzi Kanoo, who has held senior managerial positions within the Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Group in Bahrain and the UAE. He is also active in youth volunteer work, serving as President of the Bahrain Padel Federation and a Board Member of the Royal Golf Federation.
The Board also includes Professor Mansoor Ahmed Al Aali, President of Ahlia University, and one of Bahrain’s prominent academic leaders, with extensive experience in advancing higher education and scientific research. He has notable research contributions in technology, computer science, algorithms, artificial intelligence, and higher education governance.
Joining the Board as well is Mr. Moanes Mahmood Al Mardi, a well-known journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of Al Bilad newspaper, recognized as a prominent media figure in Bahrain with extensive experience in journalism and media development. In addition, Mr. Rashid Nabeel Al Hamer, Editor-in-Chief of Al Ayam newspaper and recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, is known for his deep understanding of the media landscape, contributing to strengthening the Award’s media presence and outreach.
Several members have retained their positions in the new formation, including Ms. Mona Mubarak Kanoo, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, who continues to support the Award’s journey and oversee its strategic direction, with notable contributions to community and cultural initiatives.
Also continuing are Dr. Abdullah Abdulrahman Yateem, former Assistant Undersecretary for Culture and National Heritage and an academic specializing in anthropology, with significant contributions to higher education, research, and culture; and Dr. Waleed Khalil Zubari, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies in Education, Administrative and Technological Studies at the Arabian Gulf University, a distinguished expert in sustainability and water resources with extensive experience locally and internationally.
The new Board is expected to oversee an agenda that includes launching the 13th edition of the Award, selecting competition topics aligned with contemporary developments, forming specialized committees to evaluate submissions, and following up on the implementation of the Award’s previously approved vision.
The Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Award was established as part of the Kanoo Group’s commitment to supporting public service initiatives, contributing to social development, promoting knowledge, and encouraging thinkers and scholars from Bahrain and the Arab world in the fields of economics, business, sciences, and arts.
The Award is named after the Group’s founder, the late Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo, in recognition of his legacy and his dedication to education, supporting students, and his significant humanitarian and charitable contributions to society.
